Oowo Musa Paiko is the initiator of the Beacon of Hope Project and a Co founder of the Charity. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Studies from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1998.
Particularly passionate about raising children with strong values and morals in a loving and peaceful environment, Oowo was a provider of an Early Childhood Education Service. In addition, she has a wealth of experience from trainings, workshops and events as a Caregiver of a child on the Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Oowo has an innate desire to serve humanity and adept at researching any project or issue that will foster growth and development in disadvantaged communities. She strongly believes that to effectively change society for good, people have to unlock that change from within. She’s an analyst, a public commentator, an avid Fundraiser for many charitable causes, an excellent public speaker and community organiser. Oowo is an active member of the TRA Watch, pioneer Chairperson of the PTA of Powerstown Educate Together National School Dublin 15 and a Member of the PETNS School Policy Group amongst others.
Her relentless drive is for professional early intervention for children on the Autistic Spectrum. This has lead her to speak publicly about challenges facing families with children that have special needs.
Oowo is married and blessed with 4 children. She resides in Dublin, Republic of Ireland.
Yakubu Musa Paiko is a Consultant Tax Advisor with Adam Smith International (DFID Funded Programme) GEMS3 Project Abuja, Nigeria.
Mr Paiko obtained both the National Diploma and the Higher National Diploma from Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna in 1992 and 1995 respectively. He had his Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of Calabar. He proceeded to acquire a Master of Business Administration (MBA) – Financial Management from Lagos State University, as well as a Master of Science (M.Sc.) – International Business Management from Nottingham Trent University, London.
He obtained two Further Masters in Banking and Finance (MIBF) and of Business Administration (MBA) – Banking & Finance from Bayero University Kano and the University of Bangor, United Kingdom.
He has, in addition to his formidable academic qualifications, an impressive portfolio of trainings and certifications across an exhaustive array of fields some of which includes: Yakubu is a member of a number of Professional Bodies – Nigeria Institute of Management, Chartered Banker of Scotland, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Institute of Bankers in Ireland, and Institute of Financial & Investment Analyst, Nigeria.
Mr Paiko has had a very distinguished career spanning two decades in the financial sector, Habib Bank LTD, NUB International Bank LTD, Finbank Plc, Kano. He is married with children.
Maurice Hurley has been a Primary School Teacher and Principal Teacher in Ireland from 1977 to 2014, employed by the Department of Education in various schools and roles. Now retired from teaching and moved on to promoting Global Citizenship School – universal citizenship, with rights and responsibilities for all people, based on the principles of equality, justice and sustainability, Maurice has had a very active and productive career.
Maurice served as chairperson, at different times of both Burma Action Ireland (BAI) and the Irish Traveller Movement (ITM) Education Sub-Group. He has represented his branch of the Irish National Teachers Organisation (INTO) at Annual Conferences, proposing successful motions in the Disadvantage, Equality, Travellers and Intercultural areas which resulted in several positive developments.
He planned, researched and compiled a feasibility study concerned with Barnardo’s Mobile Pre-Schools on buses. He has spent 10 years as a Principal teacher in two new Educate-Together national primary schools, helping to set up the schools as happy learning centres and also an integral part of the wider communities. He presently serves as a Director of Educate Together Ireland.
Maurice has played with and coached many teams as well as being the chairperson of Erins Isle Juvenile Section in Finglas, Dublin as a result of his belief in amateur sports being a very positive part of any living community.
He has also participated with Pat Kenny & Ryan Tubriddy on RTE interviews, Panel Shows and Television Docu-dramas.
Nasara Danmaida Ifere is an aspiring Diplomat turned Teacher and serves on the Management Board of Panaf Schools Kaduna, Nigeria. On her job, she has the responsibility of helping to mold the Character, Personality and Lives of children, watching them grow from childhood to being young adults with a vision for the future.
She volunteers with “Let the Child Smile Foundation”, an NGO focused on helping children and young adults who have dropped out of school and yet desire to make a better life for themselves.
She runs a children’s play center where families are encouraged to partake in bonding time, take a break from the hustle and bustle of making a living and to give quality time and attention to their children.
Her most recent pet-project is the Panaf Book Club, started in 2012 with a focus on bringing back the reading culture to Africa’s children and increase interest in the love for books while reducing the amount of time spent in front of the TV and computer games.
She is an active member of a number of organisations including the Rotary Club of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Personnel Managers and Swissgarde International.
Dr Steve Odeh attended the University of Jos Medical School in Plateau State, Nigeria, graduating with Distinction in Medicine in 1983. He served as a Research Associate in the Department of Surgery, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York prior to commencing his General Surgery Residency training, Dr Odeh was a General Surgery Resident at the New York Medical College Valhalla, New York from 1988-1994. This was followed by a Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at the State University of New York, Brooklyn, New York from 1994-1997.
Dr Odeh has served as an attending Thoracic Surgeon at various hospitals in New York and served as Chief of Thoracic Surgery at St Mary’s Hospital and Wyckoff Heights Medical Centre, Brooklyn, New York from 2002-2007.
His research and clinical interests are in the area of surgical management of Heart Failure. Dr Odeh is experienced in physician and medical student education especially foreign medical graduates.
Dr Odeh has served as Consultant to various clinical practices and health plans. He has extensive experience in physician practice management and development. He has participated in several committees as well as being instrumental to the growth and retention of health plan membership. He is a Physician who took early interest in Preventive Health and worked with Physicians and practices in implementing preventive measures to improve health care outcomes.
Dr Odeh is called to serve with compassion, fixing the heart and tending to the heart of the matter.
Dr Odeh resides in Fayetteville, Georgia with his wife, Diane and 2 children, David and Davina.
Mrs Elizabeth Aderonke O’Dywer is a graduate of Economics from the prestigious Lagos State University where she obtained an MBA.
Her work experience spans years of distinguished service in the Nigerian Banking sector and her work experience covers Quality Business Development, a relationship management and Quality Customer Service Delivery Within the financial services industry with particular reference to the Banking Sector.
Elizabeth is a people oriented individual with excellent communication skills, functioning effectively under most kind of circumstances as a result of her compassionate personality, trainings and experiences while interacting with a Multicultural and challenging environments.
Elizabeth also volunteers for Non-Profit Organisations. She voluntarily offers her financial services for Heritage Orphanage Homes Lagos even as she manages their financial portfolio while developing strategies for them to meet their fund raising targets.
Mary Ene Ujere serves as the Project Coordinator. Highly resourceful, young, dynamic and with great interpersonal skills, Ms. Mary is certified with the St. John Council (Ambulance Brigade) Certificate in First Aid & Accident Prevention from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and graduated from Lead City University with an honours degree in Mass Communication and Media Technology.
Mary, a member of the Certified Marketing Communication Institute of Nigeria (CMCIN) and excellent communicator, has worked as a teacher, working with children in their formative and developmental years. She worked at Danbo International School, Kaduna, before transferring to the organization.
Her attention to detail, coupled with her ability to work effectively in teams makes her an integral part of the Charity.
Achegbulu Albert LL.B BL MNIM is a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
A Legal Practitioner with over a decade of practice experience based in Abuja, Nigeria. He is a graduate of Law from the Benue State University, Makurdi and also attended the Nigerian Law School, Lagos. He has a flare for Corporate & Commercial law, Intellectual Property Law, Litigation, Research, Legal Drafting and Civil Law.
He is a passionate advocate of Human Rights and the Rule of Law.
He is a member of the Nigeria Bar Association and also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
